How to use this time card calculator
Enter your clock-in and clock-out time for each day plus any unpaid break minutes. The calculator subtracts breaks, totals your week in hours:minutes and decimal hours, splits regular from overtime, and — if you add your hourly rate — estimates gross pay before taxes. Overnight shifts are handled automatically: if clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the shift is treated as crossing midnight.
How overtime is calculated
Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees earn 1.5× pay for hours over 40 in a workweek — the default here. California and a few other states also require daily overtime after 8 hours; tick "Daily OT over 8h" to apply it. This tool provides estimates for planning and is not legal or payroll advice.
